Onna Joshika (she/her) - Personal Trainer
Hometown: Spanaway, WA
Athletic History: I’ve been a runner for as long as I can remember, with track and field being my main sport throughout my athletic career. After participating in collegiate track and field, I decided to take my passion to the next level by becoming a coach for both track and field and cross-country. My fascination with the science behind speed and strength led me to make training my main focus. I coached track and field for female athletes in the greater Seattle area and started an all-girls club track team. Training female athletes has always been my passion, but I wanted to expand and bring my expertise to women as well. Using my knowledge as a certified speed coach and my own personal fitness journey, I aim to provide athletic training to women of all ages. As I transitioned from coaching high school athletes to coaching women, I also began to explore my other passions, including cold-pressed juice and my clothing line, Gym Girls Only.
Training Background: I began training female athletes in 2016. Over my 8-year coaching career, I served as the head coach of track and field at three high schools: Renton High, Newport High, and Holy Names Academy. In 2023, I transitioned to training women in fitness. My goal as a personal trainer is to equip my clients with the tools to sustain their fitness journey.
Favorite Athletic Activities: Long runs (ex-sprinter, so 30 minutes), yoga, and attending live sporting events
Favorite Non-Fitness Activities: Cuddling my cats, trying new food, & being near water
What I Wish I Knew When I Started Training: Understanding the importance of the ankles can significantly enhance your training and overall posture. Recognizing that the position of the ankle is crucial in most lifts and activities can lead to tremendous improvements in your fitness journey.
