LEFT SIDE CROSSFIT IS AN INCLUSIVE FITNESS COMMUNITY IN SEATTLE’S CENTRAL DISTRICT

Established in the summer of 2024, Left Side CrossFit’s aim is to provide a safe and enjoyable space for athletes of all kinds to move in community. We may be the new kids on the block but our coaches have decades of fitness experience, both in and out of traditional CrossFit. Our members range from “never touched a weight in my life” to former division 1 athletes and our staff is fantastic at customizing workouts for exactly where you are in your fitness journey, even if it hasn’t started.

THE CENTRAL DISTRICT

The Central District, or “the CD”, is a historically black neighborhood in Seattle, situated squarely between the city’s business district to the West and Lake Washington to the East. While we are lucky to call this neighborhood home, we acknowledge that we are visitors with an obligation to honor and support the black legacy of the CD. We encourage members and visitors to frequent the variety of thriving black-owned businesses that we’re fortunate to have as neighbors.

We also acknowledge that we are on Native Land, and we gather on the ancestral, unceded territory of the Duwamish, Muckleshoot, and Other Coast Salish Nations, past, present, and future. Seattle has been the usual and accustomed fishing, hunting, and village sites for nations such as Suquamish, Snoqualmie, and Tulalip for centuries. They are this land’s original storytellers and we are guests.

OUR VALUES

  1. Left Side CrossFit is a Hate Free Zone. We reject all forms of racism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, ableism, ageism and bullying of any kind. We acknowledge that we are a work in progress and are constantly seeking feedback from our members and our community to provide a safer, kinder space to exercise.

  2. We reject the notion that specific physical appearances or sizes equate to health. We celebrate athletes of all shapes and sizes and encourage our members to do the same.

  3. We believe that food is very personal, and should nourish your soul as well as your body. We do not prescribe diets, cleanses, fads or restrictions of any kind to our athletes. If you are seeking guidance we would be happy to help you find a certified professional who is more qualified to discuss your needs.

  4. We scale back weights and customize movements all the time - as in every class, every day, for every athlete. We encourage members to do the same and our coaches are pros at creating a safe and enjoyable workout for all.

  5. We believe that health and wellness are a collaboration and not a competition. While competition can be used as a tool to create intensity, it is never our focus or our end goal. It is merely an optional tool. Our priority will always be the wellness of all members regardless of their workout scores.

  6. We do not believe that CrossFit is the end-all be-all of fitness. We love to learn and collaborate with other disciplines, from meditation and yoga to team sports and outdoor pursuits. We love when our members branch out!

  7. WE BELIEVE YOU ARE ENOUGH. AS YOU ARE TODAY. WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING A SINGLE WEIGHT. OR A PULL-UP BAR. IN YOUR CURRENT PHYSICAL FORM. Our goal is simply to create community through movement and we’d be lucky to have you join in the fun.
